Shirley Meadows Preston with me her first born child.
During the last few weeks I had the oportunity to go through some of my mother's belongings I found in a box in her bedroom. I always knew she loved to write and I want to share one of her short poems with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have today.
At the present time my mother is in a wonderful health care center where she is taken care of exceptionally well. She will be 81 years old on Dec 12, 2015.
It delights me to be able to publish this for her. There are more to be on my blog site. Thanks for sharing it!
Once I had some flowers given to me
Dogwood branches, from a tree
with blooming blossoms,
Brought just for me.
He climbed the deep revine.
to pursue, for the flowers on a hillside grew.
And with a penetrating smile
handed me the gift and sighed.
I kissed each blossom separately
and he asked me if knew
the story of the Dogwood tree.
And we sat and talked about God and life,
And I do know for sure,
the closeness we felt that day
he gave me the blossoms from the Dogwood tree.
So I'll remember I know
for just one solitary season the
little gesture he made and we shared little things, so insignificant, to some.
So I'll go on being glad of that one thing.
Flowers from a Dogwood
