WE ARE RECIPIENTS OF OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, RATHER THAN VICTIMS PAYING TAXES!
This statement doesn't quite go with being a part of the team, but I believe it is important. Many teachers, politicians, the rich and the poor are griping about The Federal Government spending without realizing what the Federal Government does and how much it touches the lives of every citizen, every day. So here goes:
I believe that no matter who is President, that what Marilyn Vos Savant, the lady with the highest IQ ever recorded(248) says, 'we are all recipients of the Federal Government, not victims of paying our taxes. Our military, our highways, bridges, natural disasters, man-made disasters, sheriffs and police and all grants come from the Federal Government, all the help we give to other nations comes from the Federal Government, our school systems all receive grants from the Federal Government, our weather disasters, floods, and terrorism help is all financially backed by the Federal Government. We were the only industrialized country in the world who did not offer Federal Assistance in Health Care. Every thing we touch, which is paid for with all our tax money, whether it come from the wealthy or the poor supports our Federal Government. I believe this is true, no matter if a Democrat or Republican wins the election. I believe it is true of all the past president of the United States.
I also believe, that we are protected as Christians by having the separation of church and state in our public buildings and schools, for if we have the right to Christian prayers in schools, then so do Jews, Jehovah Witnesses, Muslims, Islams and all religions have the right to have their time for their prayer. I do not think our teachers would have enough time to teach the children if we allowed all religions their 'time' for their personal beliefs. I believe religion should be taught at home. I don't want my neighbors teaching my child their religion as it may not agree with mine. This is what I believe as a citizen of the United States. I also believe if we can accept Federal money to do all of the above, we can also afford health care for the disabled, the very poor, and the hungry. At my granddaughter's school, many teachers have told me that the free breakfast and lunches are the only meal some of the children will get all day. I believe in helping those who are truly needy, realizing that some people will always be evil and corrupt the system, but I believe they are fewer than those who truly need the help of the Federal Government. Go to your state's website, to their financial page, and you will be amazed how much our Federal money has been being spent for a very long time. Do some research on how your state relies on our Federal Grant Programs and you will be amazed. I for one am not ashamed to pay the Federal Government the taxes I owe each year.
