THIS POEM IS DEDIDATED TO MY GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER, BIANCA, WHOM I MAY NOT GET TO VISIT DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING BETWEEN HER NEW FAMILY AND ME. ONLY GOD KNOWs THE DEPTH OF THE PAIN AND THE HURT THAT HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO THEM MAINLY BECAUSE WHEN WE WRITE SOMETHING IN A MESSAGE THAT MAY BE A PLEA, A PAINFUL CRY ASKING FOR 'WHAT HAPPENED? WHY DID YOU STOP CONTACTING US?" WAS TAKEN AS A THREAT... and was used in court against me.
Anyway, I wrote the poem before the court case was even presented and I think in doing so, I already had a bad feeling as you can read for yourself that I was with the baby when she was born and have seen her every week since she's been in state custody. Now the father's family has custody and they do not even know me, but the end result is that they will not let me see my beloved grand-baby girl. Only God and time can heal this situation and bring truth to their family.
LOVING FROM A DISTANCE
From the words of a song written several years ago by Stevie Wonder after meeting his first born child...
"Isn't she lovely?
Isn't she beautiful?
I just can't believe what love has done,
has produced me with this one.
Isn't she lovely, filled with love?"
From a distance my world now seems cold and dark,
from a distance, at your birth, I listened to your heart
From a distance your curly, black hair peaked first,
from a distance, that first cry, that gasping burst
From a distance, I held your hand,
from a distance, I watched you mom stand
From a distance I’ll send my love
from a distance, I’ll pray to God in heaven above
From a distance, my world stands still
from a distance, I want only for you - God’s will
From a distance you are always in sight
from a distance, as I look at your picture each night
From a distance you are nearly two
from a distance, I ask, when will I see you
From a distance, I send my love
from a distance, asking the angels to deliver from above
From a distance, you may never know that the
from a distance, blood-line flows between you and me
From a distance, my words are silent, and quiet,
from a distance, you can’t hear me, though someday you might
From a distance, I’ll always love and miss my great-granddaughter, Bi
from a distance, I hope some day you will know how much I love thee
From a distance, God hold my hurting soul, and breaking heart
from a distance, little child - please know we're never really part
From a distance, I can see us now, for someday we’ll meet again
From a distance, no more, but for eternity, and we”ll be with HIM.
A message to my great-granddaughter, whom I love from a distance. from Nana Rosie (We will be together again!)
