The Heart is Big Enough for A Lot of Love
October 22, 2017
Dear Readers,
Recently my fourth great-grandchild was born and believe me I’ve been very busy. I don’t think a day goes by without me wondering, ‘How did I get here? Where did the years go?’ Often I think this is not what I planned, but I’m learning there is always room for love in my heart. It is indeed scattered from right here in my small, cozy home in Attalla all the way west to California, New Mexico, and up north to Alaska where many of my family members live. Of course, my family members here in Alabama are included.
It’s a wonder I haven’t had heart failure as it seems my heart is scattered in so many directions, but it’s beating strong and for that I am thankful everyday. I truly believe you will understand this as you have probably shared these same feelings one way or another. I think of so many people who are sad, or suffering, and their hearts may be numbed from some type of grief, loss, or sadness. If I I feel sad I will remember happier times. Also, it helps to be thankful for what I have: a home I share with my family. good food to eat, and cars that are often used as a taxi as I take my loved ones where they need to go.
The heart is big enough to continue adding love and when we pray I believe we can send angels to our loved ones, no matter how far away they may be whether they are near or far. Last week I had an idea when I visited my mother in the health care center. I looked at the nurse and said, ‘I’m leaving a part of my heart here, so take good care of her.’ Then later that morning, I took my great-grandchild to her day care center and I told the wonderful ladies who take care of her, ‘I”m leaving part of my heart here, so please take care of her.’
No wonder the heart is associated with love! If it weren’t for the strange looking organ which seems to hold our emotions as we face the many changes we face each day. It is my opinion that the heart is more than an organ that pumps blood, but is also holds our souls with each breathe we take from birth until death.
The heart which is used in so many different situations. It sells advertising. Buy a new car and you will find love. Sell a name brand clothing or shoes and you will find love. Eat a bowl or ice cream or a great piece of cake and you will find love. The example could go on and on. However, you only find love when you obey the commandment of Jesus, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.’
It is only my opinion, it can only be experienced in a person’s heart when they realize it is only God’s love that allows our own hearts to open up to others and share that love to our family and friends. Love is forgiving. Love is kind. Love is real. I know because even though my days may sometimes be felt facing one trial after another, I always find myself back on my knees to get my priorities in order. God is real and he can change your life. God is love.
Keep Smiling’,
