With each passing year we are living a journey which continuously changes, sometimes by my choice, and other's by unknown forces that could not have been planned!
My present age finds me being a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, and my fifth great grand-baby girl was born last night in Colorado. The word great-grandmother always makes me ask: WHAT?
Last evening I was comforting a friend as she told me of her pain upon hearing sad news. I told her it’s a universal reality for every human being. We will experience a broken heart caused by friends or family members, and sometimes it’s easier to chose to let go be renewed with a peace beyond understanding. I explained THE SERENITY PRAYER is my mantra. It covers just about any challenge, heartache, or sadness I may face with any given situation.
The Bible tells us there is a time to be born and a time to die, a time to mourn and a time to dance, and there is a time for every purpose under heaven. That verse comforts me as baby’s are being born sometimes on the same day I may be at a friends funeral. It makes me a stronger woman to know there is an unseen plan behind life. It helps me to realize it’s okay to dance a jig with Phil and our great grand-babies as my oldest granddaughter (almost 13) is telling us how silly we are!
Like the weather, we experience different seasons and often have rain or shine. Some days we will be overwhelmed with joy. Some days we will feel like crying while looking around the house we can't seem to keep clean, and laundry that is never ending. Housework never looks at the clock on the wall. Yet, just as the ocean waves have an underlying current, so do we, deep inside of us. We have the will to leave it all behind and enjoy an evening of entertainment. It’s healthy to rejoice and celebrate the work we have accomplished.
Each day is a gift, that is why it is called the ‘present’. So reach your hands up to the sky, I love it when the sun is shining and find awe in God’s heavenly creation. Always include a prayer asking for help in going forward with the changes that will come.
It is said a smile is our best asset to being a lovely person, so remember to smile! It makes everything a lot easer when someone returns it, and unlike costly beauty products…it is free!
When someone cares enough to inquire about your day, or how you feel, grin like an opossum while putting a smile on your face and say, "Oh, I'm fine. Just fine!" Even if you hear a naughty little voice whispering in your ear, “Liar, liar, pants on fire! You feel terrible!”
